Colorado Rockies – Coors Field
When we did our cross country Amtrak trip several years ago, we stayed in Denver for a couple of days. The Colorado Rockies were playing out of town so we decided to do a tour of Coors Field. Seeing a game is always preferable, but a stadium tour is cool too.

The “Rooftop”is a 38,000 square foot party area in the upper right field deck. The views of Denver and of the field are stunning and it has all kinds of seating, games, and even live music before games.

The Rockpile is the seating area in center field up above the batter’s eye and is known for being the cheapest seats in the house for a Rockies game. Tickets are $4 for adults and $1 for kids under 12.

The purple seats way up high are exactly one mile above sea level.

We got to go in the Rockies clubhouse.

It wasn’t part of our tour, but our guide let us see the underground batting cages.

We checked out the press box which was pretty small. When Coors Field was built, the press box had more than 150 seats for the press, but after several years of few press people, the press box shrunk to less than half its size and more luxury seats were added.

In the press box/luxury suites area, there was a home plate in the floor and a marker for a pitchers mound to show just how much distance is between the two.

Coors Field actually has a baseball humidor! It’s a special storage room where baseballs are kept at the same temperature and humidity as the Rawlings distribution warehouse. Also, Coors Field is heated. They heat it so late spring snow will melt and the grass will stay green in hot, dry weather in the summer. Logan was focused on saving dirt from Coors Field.

Our favorite part of the tour was being down on the field.

Logan’s favorite part was being in the dugout.

Coors Field is a beautiful ballpark and we hope to see a game there sometime soon.

Tours are a great way to see a ballpark! A tour of Coors Field costs around $15. Check out MLB.com to get tour info on every MLB ballpark.
