St. Louis Cardinals – Busch Stadium

We stopped in St. Louis on a road trip out west and, unfortunately, the Cardinals were playing out of town. I love MLB stadiums so we toured Busch Stadium since we couldn’t see a game. While seeing a game is always first choice, stadium tours are a great way to see things you won’t necessarily have the opportunity to see at a game.

We found public parking in a lot just off S Broadway Avenue beside the stadium. We were there at 2:00 pm on a Tuesday afternoon so stadium parking was pretty easy to find.

I scheduled our tour online the day prior. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and military members, $16 for children aged 15 and under, and children 3 and under are free. All tours at Busch Stadium start at Gate 3 on 8th Street and last around an hour.

The team store is located near the Gate 3 entrance. The 11 bronze statues of Cardinals legends, including Stan Musial and Bob Gibson, are located in front of the team store at the corner of Clark and 8th streets.

We spent some time in the Team Store and I got my Busch Stadium ink stamp for my MLB GameDay Pass-Port Book. To read about the Pass-Port Book, click here.

We started our tour on the main concourse.

We went to the 100 level concourse and got our first view of inside the beautiful Busch Stadium.

The next stop on our tour was the UMB Champions Club, located on Level 2. The UMB Champions Club is an all-inclusive area with comfortable seating, large flat screen TV’s, and an all-you-can-eat buffet. Drinks are included with the price of a ticket and tickets for UMB Champions Club seating start around $175 per person. There is a bar you can walk up to or you can wait for a waitress to take your drink order. Drinks are served throughout the entire game so there’s no last-call in the 7th inning. Seating is outdoors and covered so you don’t have to worry about rain or sun.

Our next stop was the Redbird Club, located on Level 3 and accessible from Gate Two. The Redbird Club is very large and is often used for hosting job fairs, charity events, wedding receptions and any other large group. If you have tickets for the Redbird Club during a game, the seats are located on the 2nd deck and you have the option to go inside the club. There are tons of good food options to purchase. My favorite part of the Redbird Club is the wallpaper designed after one of the Cardinals owner’s personal baseball card collection.

The Redbird Club

We had a great view from the Redbird Club of the retired numbers of Cardinals greats, including No. 85 for former owner August Busch.

The next stop on our stadium tour was the Cardinals broadcast booth. There’s a lot of history in this room regarding the great Harry Caray, Jack Buck, Joe Buck and other great Cardinals announcers.

We made our way down to the bottom of the stadium, past the Cardinals Clubhouse (which we obviously weren’t allowed to go in), and out onto the edge of the field.

Under the stadium

There was a lot of work happening down on the field since the Cardinals were out of town playing the Texas Rangers. So much work goes into keeping the field looking great and keeping it in great playing condition.

We didn’t get to go in the dugout because of all the work being done on the field, but we had a great tour. I love seeing all the parts of the stadium that I wouldn’t normally see if I were just going to a game. Obviously, nothing compares to a MLB game, but stadium tours are a great alternative if the team is out of town. Busch Stadium is a great venue with jaw-dropping views of the skyline and Gateway Arch.
